Raspberry Pi-based Original Xbox modchip, built using ModzvilleUSA design and populated with an RP2040-Zero
ModXo is a firmware that takes advantage of the OG Xbox LPC port and the flexibility of the RP2040 microcontroller platform for running custom BIOS in your console. A custom BIOS modifies the behaviour of your OG Xbox and allows the running of unofficial applications, including images of Xbox games directly from the hard disk as well as emulators and homebrew. The Topvint Modxo modchips come preloaded with PrometheOS, which is a modern Xenium OS for the Original Xbox. PrometheOS runs in multiple modchips, such as the Xenium, Aladdin and Xecuter platforms. PrometheOS takes advatange of the RP2040-Zero by loading at startup and helping you managed up to 4 different BIOSes. These can be flashed via a web browser (as long as you connect your Xbox to an ethernet cable), which makes testing different BIOSes really easy and pain-free. Part of testing these chips includes the loading of the latest version of Cerbios, which is a modern Xbox BIOS with plenty of features such as supporting HDDs of up 16TB, 128MB RAM upgrade, native XISO support and many more.
Please note that as mentioned by ModzvilleUSA, while the connectors for external LCD panel and RGB lighting are part of the board, PrometheOS doesn’t yet support these features. If you are interest in getting these features, please wait until these features are included. ModzvilleUSA explains in his website that he has tested these features with a private build and confirmed that both are working, but I haven’t done this myself.
Please also note that by default I am not wiring the RGB port (i.e. RGB point to the onboard LED as you can see in this picture) . If you want it wired becayse you are planning to run external RGB lighting in yoru console like LED rings etc, please make sure you make this explicit in the notes at checkout.
