The serviced purchased was:
- Installation of a dummy load on a Dreamcast sent with an installed GDEMU. The customer wanted the dummy load to be installed directly in the GDEMU board as per this explanation
- Installation of a controller upgrade kit, provided by customer, and bought from Consoles Unleashed
Installation was performed with two 26 AWG wires, although due to the orientation of the dummy load board and to keep the wires tidy, the red wire was wired to the pad marked as GND, and the black wire to the pad marked 12V. This doesn’t matter as resistors are not polarised.

Personally I wouldn’t recommend this installation as it creates strain in the PCB connector and also has extra risks during installation. I did use double sided tape (as opposed to heat resistant glue) to stick the dummy load PCB to the GDEMU board just in case there is a need to relocate the mod at a later stage. It is possible that the tape becomes loose due to heat, but given that it is installed in the upright position and there are two short wires attached to it, it won’t go anywhere.
The second part of the order was installing the controller board upgrade. This includes three items
- Replacement of the fuse for a resettable fuse
- Replacement of the board capacitor for a new one
- Replacement of the rechargeable battery for a battery holder and a diode (which is required to avoid the console to try to charge a non rechargeable battery in the holder)
Below a couple of pictures before the mod showing all these elements
