What do you get with this service?
Installation of a Switchless Region-Free mod into your SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis console. Both Model 1 and 2 are included. This mod allows you to change between 50/60hz for PAL and NTSC regions, typically by using the reset button of your console. Some versions of this mod also include a Dual Frequency Oscillator (DFO) to ensure the right timings are used with the region, also eliminating black and white issues with composite and s-video modes. Most of the available mods also include a multi-colour LED which changes according to the region that is selected.
This mod can be combined with an in-game-reset mod, allowing region change with a combination of button presses in your controller.
What you don’t get with this service
This is not a repair service. Please ensure your system is fully functional as stated in our Terms and Conditions, or contact us before purchasing the service if unsure what will be covered.
The Region Free modkit is not included. There are various shops offering this. For example in the UK you can purchase from RetroUpgrades, which includes a DFO as well as an LED sub-board. This is the one shown on the pictures. Please ensure you select the right model of your console as the mod kits are typically different.
Shipping
You are responsible for shipping the system in adequate packaging to our address. An email will be sent to you after purchase with some suggestions about how to do this as well as shipping details. The cost of you shipping your system to us is not included in the price of the service.
The shipping we do charge for this service is to send the console back to you when the service is finished. To the extent possible, we will use the same packaging material you used to send the system to us in the first place. We will replace packaging material if it is damaged when we receive it at no cost to you.
