This order was initially for a TLC with Retrobrighting for a Sega Saturn Toys’R’US from Japan, motherboard revision VA13. Later on, a recap and a BIOS replacement for a region-free BIOS was also done.
The console was in good condition and worked well with japanese games. The yellowing was not very strong (below comparison with a previously retro-brighted console of the same type). Somebody had been inside this console and assembled it in the wrong way. However, all screwed seemed to be present.
First was time for a full disassembly. The console was also retrobighted after the clean using the vapour method inside a sealed container with heat and UV light.
The console was then recapped and the BIOS replaced. The optical drive was also cleaned and lubricated with white lithium grease.
Comparing with the previous console, after the retrobrighting service the console is whiter. Checking with PAL games, the console plays them now. Menu is still in japanese unless that is changed in the settings.
