The service requested was a PS3 TLC Refurbishment. Customer was based in the US and the console came via ParecelForce. The external box didn’t have any visible damage, and at first sight, the wrapping was good enough, with several layers of foam, although with no internal padding in the box. Removing the first layer of foam revealed a corner of the console with some broken plastic. Removing all the packaging showed the extent of the damage. The console had clearly been hit hard in one corner, breaking the top and bottom shells and the plastic flap of the memory card ports. The shock had travelled through the console and the other side had also popped open where the status lights are.
Console was plugged in to test. Fortunately all the functionality seems to work fine, from the USB ports to the buttons and BluRay drive. A game was tested briefly with no issues. Console was factory reset so I had to go through the setup process to test functionality.
