This service was for the refurbishment and TLC of a PS2 slim. The customer reported having used sellotape in some of the internal parts to help disc reading, and having used FreeDVD method to play certain games.
Upon reception of the console, initial tests didn’t show any reading issues with regular PS2 games, so the TLC process was carried forward as normal.

First step was disassembly, and the console showed some signs of dirt and dust, but generally was in quite good condition.

Thermal pads were replaced, both in the main chips and a couple of other smaller chips in the motherboard

The fan was partially disassembled for easier cleaning. Again, somewhat dusty but not very dirty. For the battery, in Slim PS2s the connector is soldered to the it, so the best way to replace the battery is to remove the connector, solder it to a new battery, and protect it with shrink tube

While cleaning the case, it was noticed that one of the corners of the gloss stripe on the top cover was broken. This isn’t too obvious by simply looking at the console, but causes the stripe to not to be attached in one of the sides. This was fixed by using double sided tape under the stripe.

The DVD drive was also thoroughly cleaned and lubricated, and the tape holding the cable of the fan replaced with kapton tape .

After cleaning and washing all the plastic components, the console was put back together and tested.
