This order was the recap of a Sega Master System, and for the recap of a 32x and installation of a switchless region-free mod. A previous switch mod was also removed in the process of installing the switchless mod.
Master System
Nothing much to report apart from an straight forward recap. Some MX-4 thermal paste was used in the replaced voltage regulator./

32X
The console was a NTSC model and had a switch installed for region changing.

First step was to remove the mod and then do the recap

The customer asked to perform a video noise mod that requires a different capacitor instead of CE17. However the capacitor provided was too big, so it was decided not to install it.

The second step was to install the switchless region mod. Solder in a few points needs to be removed so that the QSB fits flat. The plastic raiser for the cartridge slot also needs to be trimmed so that it fits over the QSB. Otherwise, the installation is very straight forward.

Testing the 32x and playing Virtua Racer as provided by the customer. Clearly the console will refuse to play if the wrong region is used (in the photo, an NTSC region is selected while trying to play a PAL game). However when the right region is selected in the Mega Drive, the 32x will switch to that region and let you play the game. The region can be changed when the game has already booted, changing the speed.
Sadly the console now has a hole where the switch was installed 🙁
