Black PlayStation with a 480GB SSD pre-configured with FreeHdBoot, and EasyHDD.
This soft-modded PS2 will allow you to play games both from disc (DVD / CD) and ISO images in external devices. The console comes with a new 480GB SSD (SA400S37/480G) and is configured to boot from it i.e. no memory card is required. This is known as FreeHdBoot (as opposed to the memory-card variant called FreeMcBoot). The latest stable version from Open PS2 Loader (OPL) is installed to let you manage and load your games. OPL is highly configurable, with many open source themes, cover art for your games, etc.
EasyHDD is a 3D printed shell for PS2 hard drives and SSD adapters, which reverses the way the hard drive is installed and allows you to easily pull it out. This can be very useful to quickly move the hard disk between your PS2 and your computer, to install new games and manage your PS2 hard disk contents. The EasyHDD in this console was made with a Gamestar adapter. You can find all the information about this in Jeff Chen’s Github page.
Please note that while the SSD has been pre-formatted, partitioned and configured to be be used with the PS2, you will still need to add your own content such as games, artwork, homebrew applications or themes. This can be done by either connecting your SSD to your computer through a USB adapter (or directly if you have a desktop PC) or by copying the content to a USB drive and then copying it to the HDD with the built-in browser included in FreeHdBoot. Applications like HDL Batch Installer for Windows will allow you to install games if you decide to connect the hard drive to your computer. Please note that while the overall conditions is good, the console does have some small scratches. Please look at the photos carefully and ask questions if in doubt.
This is originally a PAL console from the UK and therefore expects 220v as input. If you are planning to use this console in a country that uses 110v, you will need a step up transformer or will need to swap the internal PSU for one of the same model from your region.
What’s included?
Only the console unit, the SSD, the PS2 EasyHDD adapter and the original HDD bay cover are included. No controllers, cables or any other accessories are included.
