What do you get with this service?
PicoLoader is a solderless mod that lets you boot homebrew in your GameCube in a very similar way that other mods, such as PicoBoot, would let you do. This service is for the installation of a PicoLoader in your GameCube console. All items required for this installation, including the Raspberry Pi Pico, flex cable and any additional mounting brackets and consumable will be included as part of the service. Please see our listing for PicoLoader for more information about what this mod does.
This services also helps you prepare an SD card and its installation with a card adapter into the console. Please check the PicoBoot official installation guide for options of adapters, but essentially you can choose to install the SD card in the Serial Port 2 (SP2) of the consoles, which is situated out of sight at the bottom of the GameCube, or use a memory card adapter and slot it in on of the two memory ports of the console.
A modded GameCube is normally combined with a software called Swiss, which allows you to launch games from the SD card. The preparation of the SD card includes the latest version of Swiss.
This mod doesn’t prevent the use of the disc drive as normal.
How is this different from PicoBoot
To the user, there is little or no difference. Installation-wise, the main difference is that PicoBoot will require soldering wires to the motherboard of the Game Cube, and the PicoLoder does not as it works by inserting a flex cable between the disc drive connector and the drive itself.
What you don’t get with this service
This is not a repair service. Please ensure your system is fully functional as stated in our Terms and Conditions, or contact us before purchasing the service if unsure what will be covered.
The SD Card and the card adapter. Please check the PicoBoot official installation guide for options and links for hte adapters. As per the SD card, most microSD card would work, but normally a size between 64GB and 256GB can store between 40 and 170 games.
