This service was for the recap of a Sega 32x as well as the installation of a region-free mod. The console came with the connection cables to connect to the main console, as well as a Star Wars PAL game.
While the console was in a relatively good state externally, internally the console had quite rusted shields, which should be treated as soon as possible to avoid the rust spreading to other parts of the console.

The recapping of the console was straight forward, as it was the installation of the region free mod. The mod is actually called Sega 32X Auto Hertz Switchless Region Mod Kit – No Wire Quick Solder Board. This mod synchronises the region of the 32x with the console that is attached to, so for playing non-PAL games, a non-PAL console or a region-modded Mega Drive will be needed.

The plastic support for the cart slot had to be sanded to “jump” over the mod PCB and allow it to sit flat.
Tests were done with a Mega Drive 1 which was region modded. I do not have an NTSC 32x game, however, the game wouldn’t play when the region of the MD1 was set to NTSC region, but would play when set to PAL, which indicates that the region mod is doing its job.
