This order was for a package service for an original Xbox with a 500GB SSD drive. The customer also requested the replacement of the shell with a custome dyed crystal shell which they also provided.
The consoles was generally in good condition although the usual rust in the bottom shield and leaking caps were nevertheless present.
The CPU caps were replaced and the clock cap was removed. A few components around the clock cap were missing (probably fell off from corrosion), but this circuitry isn’t needed without the clock capacitor in place. The heat sinks were also removed and the thermal paste replaced. The customer requested the shields to be painted after sanding. The DVD drive was also cleaned and new lithium grease applied to the gears and the sliders. The LPC port was rebuilt and a ModXo modchip installed with Cerbios in the first bank.
The new shell came assembled but without the button panel, shields or anything else apart from the plastic parts. It however included a face plate for the DVD drive, which was replaced for the stock black one. A small chip was found in one corner of the front panel of the new shell, probably caused when the shell was disassembled and assembled again before shipping. It is in a place which is difficult to see without lifting the console.
Assembling the console was straight forward. The difference in revision of the motherboard of the provided console v1.3 only differs from the shell of the crystal 1.6 in one of the screw post, which just wasn’t used when reassembling.
The power port was reinforced as this version of the PSUs are known for the solder to crack with time.
The customer also sent a custom jewel, which was a 3D printed part and a embossed sticker. The 3D printed part was glued with epoxy. Finally, after reassembly, the rubber fit and screws were transferred from the stock console.
