This order was for the installation of a Retro GEM in a white Nintendo Wii.
The console was in good condition with no operational problems. The console was first disassembled and the capacitors replaced.
After that, the support for the Retro GEM board was installed, and then the flex around the AVE chip was soldered
After the initial installation of the flex, the board was hooked up and tested, with all working fine at this moment. The sniffer board was then installed.
After this the HDMI port was soldered down and the final white flex installed for final testing. Console was confirmed working with all the tests good.
However further tests demonstrated the GEM not receiving power consistently. Subsequent tests included reflashing the firmware, but didn’t provide a consistent result. Discussing with PixelFX in their Discord server, they suggest a modification in the GEM board but the customer prefers to get a replacement, which takes a couple of weeks to arrive
The new GEM works reliably with no problem, so the console was finished up by modifying the shield and making a cut in the shell to accommodate the HDMI port out.
